One per cent of every miner's gross mined BDAG is sent to an address nobody holds a key to. This page shows what has been sent, and gives you what you need to check it yourself.
Why the big number is not our number
The address below is the conventional Ethereum-style burn sink. It is shared: anybody on chain 1404 can send to it, and many have. Its balance therefore says nothing about WelshDAG specifically.
So this page counts our burn from our own payout ledger — only transactions our payout engine sent — and shows the sink's total balance separately, clearly labelled. The two are never added together and never blended. If you only take one thing from this page, take that distinction.

What "burn" means here
BDAG is the chain's native coin, not a token contract, so there is no totalSupply figure to decrement. A burn here means coins sent to an address with no known private key: they are permanently removed from circulation and cannot be spent by us or anyone else. No supply counter changes, and we do not claim one does.
Chain 1404 also advertises EIP-1559, so base fees are burnt by the protocol itself. That happens independently of this policy and is not counted here.
